Laked Brucella Blood Agar w/ Kanamycin & Vancomycin (LKV) is an enriched, selective, & differential Med. for the isolation & partial identification of obligately anaerobic gram-negative bacilli. This media is prepared, dispensed, & packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use. LKV is also available in a 4-plate package, split bi-plate, or packaged w/ other media types in a single convenience pack.LKV agar is useful for the rapid isolation of Prevotella species. LKV agar contains casein, soy peptone, meat peptone, yeast extract, & dextrose as its nutritive base. The selective agents include kanamycin & vancomycin to prevent the growth of most obligate gram-negative & gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, along w/ most facultative anaerobic bacteria. Laked sheep blood & vitamin K1 are added to facilitate the recovery, & pigment production.

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium (FTM) with Indicator is a general purpose medium recommended for sterility testing and for the cultivation of anaerobes, aerobes, and microaerophiles. Casein and yeast extract provide nitrogen, essential vitamins, and amino acids. Glucose provides a carbon source, sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, and L-cystine and sodium thioglycollate act as reducing agents. This is supported by a low amount of agar, which reduces the oxygen permeability through the medium. Resazurin is an oxidation indicator. MacConkey (MAC) Agar is a selective and differential medium used for the detection and isolation of Gram-Negative enteric bacilli. Escherichia coli can ferment lactose to produce acid which results in a pH drop. This is indicated by neutral red resulting in pink colonies. Increased acid production results in the precipitation of bile salts, or a halo, around lactose fermenting bacteria. Also known as TSA or Trypticase Soy Agar, Tryptic Soy Agar is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. This medium can be used for a wide variety of purposes including maintenance of stock cultures, plate counts and microorganism isolation of a range of specimens. It is also used for testing bacterial contaminants in cosmetics. The addition of blood can be used for the visualization of hemolytic reactions produced by various bacterial species. The addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and/or Lecithin, is used for environmental monitoring as they inactivate disinfectant residue. Whether you need a general-purpose, nonselective media or you need added blood to facilitate a more fasitdious bacterial lawn for the detection of hemolytic reactions, we have several products to choose from. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.
